Duane’s Kripalu Yoga is always varied. His class does offer a wide and varied vocabulary of asanas (poses). Come attend a typical class with Duane. Come often enough to Duane’s Kripalu Yoga , and you will notice that there is not a typical class. Each class is different every time. It is Duane’s deliberate and wise intention to keep the class different each time. This thought provoking plan actually helps the yogi stay alert and open to the present moment. “People spend enough time out there, mind not connected to body so I like them to connect and focus on the internal in the class” , says Duane. When variety is introduced the mind does not get bored and this is what helps keep the mind’s attention present and connected to the body. Duane’s Kripalu Yoga creates a greater purpose than routine. His intention is to offer variety as a way of keeping his attending yogis on guard, alert and present. The yogis cannot rush ahead in routine. They cannot let their mind wander less his next action will be missed. This alertness is the greater purpose of practice with Duane’s Kripalu Yoga.
On the physical level classes also vary from gentle through moderate, never extremely vigorous. Poses vary from classic poses as taught by B.K.S Iyengar to simple exploratory stretches as discovered by Duane along his long Yogic path. His classes are always geared towards the participants. This blend can change from week to week so please do let him know your experience level upon your arrival.
Duane encourages Union (Yoga) of mind and body. Through movement and poses you will be able to connect the physical brain and the physical body. As you have greater and greater success with this personal Yoga (union), one begins to experience the Greater Union and your place in it.
