Chakra Exploration: movement and meaning
is an 8 week 7 class series
aimed at helping you
to understand the Chakra system and
learning or deepening your yoga practice.

Join this class led by Alex, our new addition to YbD.

Chakra Exploration: movement and meaning
will include seven classes that correspond to
the seven major chakras . Beginning with
the first chakra on week one June 14, the
class series will  proceed
through each chakra weekly.

Each weekly
class will open with a brief description
of the characteristics of the chakra for that week,
followed by 60-75 minute vinyasa practice
designed to activate that chakra.  A variety of
methods will either open or close for a  20-30 minute period
of chakra exploration– either through
guided meditation/visualization,
mudra practice,
or mantra work.

This series is suited to students of all levels of experience.
Alex, the instructress,  has created a general
agenda for the seven weeks is as follows:

June 14: Muladhara #1. We will begin with a
brief overview of chakras and the chakra
system at the opening of class. Class will focus
on grounding energy and body and include
standing and balance postures. Close with
guided meditation.
June 21: Swadhisthana #2.
Class will focus on creating awareness
of fluidity and sexuality through
hip opening flowing sequences.
We will open with an exploration of
mudras in general and an exercise
related to 2nd chakra.
June 28: Manipura #3. Class will
focus on empowerment, building inner
fire and personal power through
core strengthening and twists.
Close with mantra development.

July 5: No class.

July 12: Anahata #4. Cultivate heart
opening and compassion through gentle
and intermediate back bends. Conclude
with chanting and pranayama exercise.
July 19: Vishuddha #5 Class will focus on
opening channels of communication
and expressing creativity through throat
opening and cleansing postures. End with guided
visualization to stimulate this chakra.
July 26: Anja #6 Tap into inner wisdom
and intuition by practicing one pointed
focus in standing balance postures and learn
how to build strength necessary to work
towards arm balances. End with pranayama exercise.
August 2: Sahasara #7 Awaken connection
to the divine through introductory inversion
poses. Conclude series with guided visualization
and mudra work.
