Deb’s class combines core strengthening movements derived from Pilates with the grace and flo of kripalu yoga. Classical Yoga

Classical Yoga follows a 2000 year old philosophical book The Yoga Sutras or The Rules of Yoga. Yoga means mastering the lower self with the higher self or better put, uniting mind, body, and spirit. Heidi’s class are often started with a brief message relating to The Yoga Sutras or an intent or focus for the class. Traditional Hatha Yoga asanas (poses) will be used in her class. Hatha Yoga refers to a set of physical exercises (asanas or poses) used in a sequence to align the muscles and bones. They are designed to “open” channels of the body, mainly the spine, so energy flows freely.
Heidi ‘guides’ her students thru their own ‘personal’ yoga practice. Emphasis is on alignment, the breath, and mindfulness while working thru the asanas. Students are reminded to work at their own pace with respect to their bodies and how they feel in the present moment. The class is completed with a traditional svasana or ‘relaxation’ and a brief meditation. “It’s not about being perfect in every pose, but finding peace in the pose”.
