In Groundwork Yoga Instructor Denise focuses on helping you get deeper inside a pose. She will suggest using props and the wall. Denise is on your team. There is a team in yoga. We are never alone.
We try to find the place in the pose that allows you to work. We help get you deeper wherever you are in your experience. GroundWork Yoga can be especially useful for beginners. It will help beginners understand the opening for which they are looking. GroundWork Yoga will help the beginner explore that space as you find it. More experienced practitioners can take the opportunity to work deeper in GroundWork Yoga. You can experience the subtleties layered in the work.
In Groundwork Yoga using props is encouraged since it reduces the struggle. Props and the wall allow space to work with you. You discover your strengths and weakness as we look together to unblock any areas that may be in need of opening.
Groundwork Yoga also focuses on vinyasa – connecting the breath to the physical movement. This connection helps us connect on a deeper level. Class usually begins with some type of centering – breathing, simple meditation, sitting in stillness. We will do some sun salutations to warm up gently, create openings that serve us at our individual level, then come back into ourselves with a closing sequence.
All students are encouraged to accept being where they are,. We want you to use the basic precepts of yoga philosophy: Learn to honor ourselves. Come into balance.
